Red Dwarf is a popular science fiction comedy sequence from the United Kingdom. It had been first broadcast in the 80s on the usual television channels, and immediately became a massive hit on each side of the Atlantic.

The storyline centers around the crew of the Jupiter exploration craft Red Dwarf. When a radiance leak wipes out almost all of the crew, the only remaining member of the crew is Dave Lister (a vending machine repairman). He is not the only one aboard but as he is joined by a lifeform that has evolved from the ship's cat, a nice hologram simulation of a fellow crew member, and they are later joined by a mechanoid named Kryten.

The American people did set out to make their version of the show but only a lead episode was ever made.
